What is FDM?
Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is a 3D printing process that fabricates objects layer by layer by extruding melted thermoplastic material through a heated nozzle.
How It Works
Horizontal Printing (X/Y Axes): The print head moves horizontally along the X and Y axes, precisely depositing a single layer of plastic onto the build platform according to the 3D model's design.
Vertical Step (Z Axis): Once a layer is finished, the printer adjusts along the Z axis—either the print head moves upward or the build platform moves downward—by a single layer's thickness.
Repetition: The nozzle then begins depositing the next layer directly on top of the previous one. This cycle repeats sequentially, building the part from the bottom up until the object is complete.
